My husband and I have been looking for new auto insurance. I have a better credit score, and have never had a single traffic problem. My husband had an accident in Feb. and his credit score is lower. We both make the same amount of money, so I don’t understand why the insurance companies quote higher amounts when I am listed first.
I did search online. Geico was one that almost doubled in price for me verses my husband. I first started with him being the main applicant and me the spouse. I then tried it with me being the main applicant and him being the spouse. The cars listed and all other information was the same. This is not fair at all.
Come on people, read the question. I am not looking for the cheapest insurance, I am wondering why I am being charged so much more than my husband for the same vehicles.
Do auto insurance companies charge more for female head of household applicants?

auto insurance is done on the value of vehicle and not for your income even though you can search on net for comparing the prices

No, they don’t charge more for female heads of household. It’s going to be based on your credit score – and if you’ve been married a while, there’s not going to be much difference in your score. It’s ALSO going to be based on drivers, and his points will be put on both quotes.
The difference is, most likely, some of the companies are running credit scores and MVR reports up front. Some will won’t. There’s no guarantee that any of these quotes you’re getting, will STICK.

Is there a big age difference?? Do you drive sports type cars? I am with you that IS crazy. Call around the oldfashion way and see what the agents come up with. Make sure they write for those companys you tried on line. Good luck
