How long do I have to work at Wal Mart before a bank will let me buy a house?

25 May

I’m 30 years old.
I’ve been at Wal Mart for 5 years now and have worked my way up to $ 8.13 an hour and should be making almost $ 8.50 soon.
I’m Conservative, I work hard, and do all the right things like I’m supposed to and my credit is good.
Will a bank give me a loan so I can have my part of the American Dream?

    Nope!!

If you can save up a 10% down payment though you should be good.

You would be better off selling drugs though than working at Wal-Mart.

Lol, not a chance in Hades. Consider getting a better paying job so you can save $10,000 as a down payment.

You may be able to borrow on a mobile home, hang out with the Walmart crowd in the local trailer park.

They will give you a loan for a house that you can afford, it is not going to be the McMansion that you would have got and ultimately lost during the housing boom years.

Start saving and in about 270 years you’ll be ready to put money down on a house.

nice try liberal. you made this up.

Not everyone deserves to OWN a home. Liberals (using Fannie and Freddie) tried this and it nearly ruined the economy. Maybe when you pool your money with a spouse or family member this can happen.

You have the right to pursue the American Dream, but luck plays a bigger roll than just doing all of the right things. Many people do all things that they have been told will make them wealthy. They do get the house, the car and many things, but they retire with only $50,000/150,000 (yes, I made that up) and not the millions that they expected.

Somehow, I think you know this already. :)

at $8.13 an hour no bank will finance a home loan. get a few dollars together and put it down on a used mobile home. fix it up and pay it off, and trade up.

    No.
    Not anymore.
You can’t even get a car loan working at Wal-Mart.
    You earn $ 16,500 a year – that’s poverty level.
You may qualify for a private mobile home sale with private financing or rent to own, but a house is out of the question for you, and a bank will just laugh in your face.
Wal-Mart provides a living wage if you already have a place to live – like your mom’s basement.
Screw what the neocons say – go back to school, get an education and get a job that will buy you a house.
Working hard and doing the right thing doesn’t do crap, its just something they tell the working class so they don’t revolt.
