My friend and I want to start a small roofing and sinding buisness in Erie county, New York. I want to know what kind of Insurance I would need and would I need a special license to do the work, other than local building permits. It would be residential work, mostly roofing and siding.

Hi, Start calling insurance companies to get quotes. You probably need to check into being bonded also as you will be working at people’s home. If you have employees you will need workman comp. When I opened a restaurant in CA it took me about a month to get all the paperwork in place for me to get started. Good luck to you.
