Lost engagement ring?

02 Jun

Today I was decorating my new house. When I got to the house I put my engagement ring in my handbag in the front compartment. I went out once to the tip with some carpet I pulled up, and when i got back i carried on decorating. When it was time to leave to go back to my parents’ home, I went into my bag and my ring wasnt there. I have literally examined my bag numerous times only to find nothing. I have searched the house high and low . I have looked on the pavements, the roads. I have retraced my steps.I now feel my head is spinning. I have not phoned my fiance yet. I don’t know how he will respond I have only been engaged 5 months. Is there a way I could claim off my contents insurance, which has accidental damage. ANY HELP PLEASE .

I never took mine off. Don’t know what to tell you other than to keep looking. If you have it specifically listed on the insurance and have a certificate that tells what it’s worth as well as a picture of it, you may be able to claim it on insurance, but other than with those things, I doubt it. Just tell him. If he gets mad, he’ll get glad in the same pants if he’s a decent guy.

Check the lining in your purse for any small rips or tears. The ring could have slipped through and be caught between the lining and outside of the purse.
It would depend on your individual insurance policy as to whether or not it is covered.
You do need to let your fiance’ know. He may have taken out insurance on the ring.
And odd as it may sound, this is a little novena a friend taught me years ago that truly seems to work:
“St. Anthony, St. Anthony, Please look around. My engagement ring is lost and can not be found.

This is going to sound very strange, but say a prayer to St. Anthony. My grandmother taught me this when I was very young, and I’ve never forgotten it. I’m not even particularly religious, but St. Anthony has never let me down.

    St. Anthony, St. Anthony
    Please come down
    Something is lost
    And can’t be found

    or

Something’s lost and can’t be found
    Please, St. Anthony, look around.

But you must remember to thank him when you do find it. Good luck!

I believe that engagement rings and wedding rings are specially insured, but perhaps they are available under contents insurance.

Have you called your insurance company?

Is there a hole in your handbag? I mean, is there a rip in the lining? I once lost a ring in my purse only to find it a year later when it slipped out from under the lining as I was dumping it out to clean. Do you have any pets that might have knocked it over?

My house insurance covers $1500 for jewelery, but I would assume each policy is different. I also don’t know whether it covers not being able to find it at all. I have a separate policy that covers my ring, just in case. Are you sure you don’t have something like that? If you have a flashlight, shine that on the floor, etc around your bag–sometimes things can blend in to the floor or whatever, but the fllashlight can pick up the sparkle of the ring. I do this when I lose my contacts! Good luck!!! I feel for you

I’m not even catholic and the St Anthony prayer totally works.

Tear your purse apart, I dont care if its a Gucci, its not worth your ring, tear the lining out and everything. Also get down on your hands and knees and search the grass, also call the delivery men and see if maybe you by accident gave the ring to them when you tipped them. Cover all your bases. Also tell your fiance, a fresh set of eyes is always a big help.

Good luck I hope you find it.

CHekc your car, the loose carpet you pulled out and any where else it may have accidentaly gotten lost.

As for insurance like the others have said most likely the ring has insurance on it. My fiance purchased it with ours, it shoudl cover the replacement cost.
