I have done so much research on modular homes and would like to hear from someone who actually lives in one. I’d like to hear the good with the bad since we will probably buy one. My email is viewpoint123@yahoo.com. Many of the homebuilders right off the bat are very negative about modular homes. I’ve learned modular homes are quite common in Europe and even some prison buildings are shipped over there. I know if modular homes catch on in the US it would hurt the homebuilders, so I don’t really want to hear from homebuilders. There’s seems to be too much resentment from site builders in the other responses I’ve seen on the topic of modular homes. The employees of modular home builders have health insurance & benefits, & vacation pay. Sitebuilt builders tire out their workers and they have no incentives. Material gets wet. They don’t use expensive computerized jigs like the factories. Modular homes are built to the same code as stick built so why all the negativity?

Why do they build matchstick homes in USA?
The foundation in most homes is only 4 inches thick. This causes the foundation to crack in 8 to 10 years as the ground shifts. The house is built with cheap wood, termite treated, they claim. The house is priced at 150,000 to half a million or more dollars. Yet the house is built for under 50,000. The profit the builders make on each home is outrageous. In Louisiana and other places, hurricanes lift these homes and the insurance damages are colossal.
In India, the homes are built with a 3 feet deep foundation and 9 inch thick brick walls. The houses never burn down, the hurricane can do nothing to the house and the house never has to be insured against fire or storms. Here the insurance companies are a big scam and most homes are built out of cheap material and the insurance is high. When will this change? When will home builders give buyers the actual value of the home they purchase? I am not against the lenders taking interest nor against the home builders making a profit.

Where Are The Foreigners Getting Money To Buy Homes?
I live in NY withen the 5 boroughs. Where I live many foreigners are buying and living in homes.
Let me see across my house there are russians, albanions, more russians down the block, oh and chinese which i dont mind them they are great ppl.
By me If a house goes up for sale a builder buys it and puts maybe 2 or 3 two family townhomes.
The russians do not talk to anyone on my block but are somewhat disturbing. There is a single family home that the russians renovated and its bigger then my house now.
But they have 6 cars a mercedes, 2 nissans, a cadillac, and others.
Where are they getting this money??? To live in the USA? Also where the hell are they getting the money to buy these homes???
Is the usa giving them money?? How can they buy townhomes or 1 family homes for $500,000 or more when the average first time home buyer cant even buy a home for that amount of money.
Yea maybe they got a morgage or a loan but i dont think so something smells fishy. I mean they have 6 cars my family only has 2.
